midwest: A GRAYT place to start

Dean's kids live in the midwest.  His daughter, son-in-law, and four grandkids live in Ohio and his son lives in Indiana.  So, each summer we generally plan our trips around our visit to the midwest.  Sometimes, we take our time on the way up and back and enjoy the journey a little more slowly.  Other years, we've zoomed it up there for a visit so that we can zoom on to our travel plans that year, (like to fast-paced, yet GRAYT, trip to the California coast by way of the GRAYT National Parks in southern Utah.  That trip is still being archived but will have its very own page!

Below are some of our favorite places to visit and our favorite places to eat!  Check 'em out!!

Ohio holds a dear place in our hearts, because that's where the grandkids are!!  With four of them to keep up with, (I know, I barely look old enough to be a dad, let alone an OG-which is what they call me.  Explanation to follow on the "rant" page).  Since most of our time is spent enjoying each other's company, we get out, (and eat out), as much as we can.  Check out the Ohio page for our favorites!

Dean's son lives in Indiana, so we spend a good amount of time there, again, hanging out and visiting.  We also get out a little here and there, and definitely eat out/order in while we're in town.  

I had a sandwich in Effingham once.  Yes, it was an Effinham sandwich, (thanks, Jeff!).  We'll be in Chicago this summer, (2024).

We haven't gotten to experience too much of Missouri, though we've stopped in Uranus because, well, we're tourists and it trapped us!  We also stayed in East St. Louis, not somewhere you want to explore at night!
